True, that line in the birthday episode always did stick out, Sweetheart: But she doesn't know everything Bright Eyes: Yes I do. Oh BE, you and Twilight would get along very well me thinks.
Fair point, I put that all under the general fact that they were older and would act at least a bit mature (so it would stand to reason that Bon Bon would get over her fear of hights on some leve) .
Ah, mlpfan, fun fact it's his videos that I downloaded onto both of my computers, and is the reason I got into Tales in the first place.
Given how short the episodes normally are, wouldn't it be more of a gag fan dub then an actual abridge series?
A fan made season 2, I could dig it, though we'd have to make sure the art style didn't exactly match the show, if the whole Button Mash stuff is anything to go by.

It was actually Clover who said Bright Eyes didn't know everything. So smart of Bright Eyes to bury her nose in books instead of promoting world peace when if she already knows everything. (Twilight and Bright Eyes indeed would get along well. Too well.) They'd be just different enough to have a bit of conflict too.
I noticed that they were a bit older. It stood out to me that you made the story take place in 2002, which put them at 20-22. I respect an author who gets their facts straight, because most Tales writers forget that the series took place in 1992 so you have either high school Sweetheart picking up her song with the author's favorite song from around 2008 to talk to her boyfriend Christmas Prince Avalanche Alpaca on her iPhone.
They did indeed act more maturely, and I understand what you're getting at, but I still think that Bon Bon would flip out. Partially because, when I write her, she ranges from an anxious little pony who has a few deep fears to a total coward who has a whole host of irrational fears on that spectrum. Of course she'd get over a few fears over time, I just think that the heights one is kind of programmed in.
If I ever met mlptfan, I'd give him a huge bear hug. Not only did he bring high-quality Tales episodes to all, but again, he seems nice. Then again, I have yet to find a mean person who likes Tales.
Unfortunately, I got the wrong idea of the series from Mr. Lumpy Brown Hat's video and watched Shop Talk, and eventually wanted to see if it was true. I gave up on finding subliminal messages after Blue Ribbon Blues and Shop Talk. I was sold right after those.
I suppose it would be. I'm just used to the Mentally Advanced Series and Friendship is Witchcraft being referred to as abridged series. I haven't gotten too far into the abridging fandom, but if it'd be somewhat like the Funimation Sgt. Frog dub, then sure.
Oh yes. I love cartoons and Tales, and would make a second season, but only have a few months of messing around with Flipnote Hatena on my DSi of experience in the actual animation process. I'd rather like to have it in the original style, but I also wouldn't wish upon anybody a cease and desist letter, either. I might be able to do something a la Rainbow Dash Presents with animation complexity, but... eheh.
It really is unfortunate that JanAnimations had to deal with the Cease and Desist letter. Even worse is all of those anonymous people who think they know more about the situation than they really do, saying that everything was a troll's attempt to take a jab at Jan. I did like Button's Adventures...

1. Ah, so it was. Meanwhile, Wind Whistler and Kimono would just be sitting around and having tea with one another.
2. Figured the pony version of the early 2000s would put them around the same rough age as the Mane Six. And as much of a mish mash world as Tales is, I don't think that late 90s Sweetheart would have access to an ipony phone thing.
3. Prince Avalanche Alpaca is now my new favorite silly name ever.
4. Eh, fair enough, though Clover always struck me as more cowardly between the two of them.
5. Me thinks Mr. Lumpy Brown Hat has a very... skewed view of both reality and Equestria, if his very inaccurate Tales review is anything to go by.
6. Essenically, like Witchcraft yea. Think the English dub of Duel Masters or Samuria Pizza Cats.
7. Yea, on the one hand, one has to wonder excatly how much Hasbro would care that much, seeing as how their shorts videos has a bunch of Jem songs and Transformers lrated stuff, but all the pony stuff is from either G3 or G4.
8. Thought Button mash was carming enough, but can't help but think thtat MAYBE jan shouldn't have used three trademarked charchters as part of his opening logo, among other things.

1."Want more tea, Wind Whistler?" "Thank you, Kimono. Should we put an end to Bright Eyes and Twilight's bickering or allow them to resolve their differences on their own?" "...Maybe they can learn something from it." (Note: the only Kimono episode I've seen is Charming Birthday and I've never seen Wind Whistler.) 2. My point was precisely that none of the Tales girls would have access to a Pony Phone in 1999. People forget that Tales happened twenty plus years ago and write them with pony phones with Snoop Dogg or Miley Cyrus or whoever's popular nowadays in high school classes. Based on my research, massage chairs didn't even come out until '93, and smart phones had until about 2006 to be released. One story was about the ponies going on a field trip to New York City on a certain fateful day in 2001. 3. www.fanfiction.net/s/5687723/1/A-Pony-s-Life Actually... 4. I thought that at first, and in different ways, they are both cowardly. One person actually figured that the difference was, basically, Bon Bon worries about what others think of her and whether she's liked, and Clover worries about the universe dooming her to fail. Quite fair, in my humble opinion. (Of course, it's difficult to call either courageous or brave, but I digress.) Confidence and courage are different, of course, but they both seem to have a sort of inferiority complex that gives them their fears. Maybe the difference is in that Clover's fear has more featured episodes and Bon Bon's main fear of being disliked faded with time. I don't know, but it seems like it could explain it... 5. Eeyup. 6. If I did an abridged series, I'd definitely make it a sort of a mix of both. And Sgt. Frog is my favorite anime, but I've heard people saying that they didn't know whether it meant to be a true dub or a gag dub. 7. In December, they made me cry. How? By bombing mlptfan's channel. When they haven't used the property in twenty plus years. The only way I got them at all was via Dailymotion, and even then, my irrational, partially-brony-given hatred of Hasbro burns fiercely. 8. Button Mash WAS pretty fun, but I never did think of it that way. They did use the copyrighted characters in the opening. That was a bit nearsighted, but... meh. (Speaking of which, we have another member hanging around. Welcome artsydreamer!)

1. For Wind Whistler, think Spock from Star Trek if Spock was a female flying pony. She is awesome.
2. And I'm now imagining Snoop Dogg or Miley Cyrus as ponies. Thanks for that Notes. Thanks. Also, given the early 90s/late 80s setting, I'd personally at least do a brick phone sort of joke if nothing else, if I was going to include a cell phone of some sort. 3. Ah fanfiction script, truly the most worthy of all the script formats (says Bob while his voice drips with sarcasm). 4. Intresting point, I'll try to keep this in mind for future potential stories.
7. Potential Red Lantern Ring member is the making?

1. Ah, Star Trek. One of the many shows I need to watch if I ever get bored on a Saturday night. The 'knowledge' I have about Wind Whistler is from the fans; she's commonly compared with Twilight and rather likes vocabulary words. I need to watch more of the original G1 series, because I enjoyed the few I have watched. 2. You are so very welcome my friend! (Did I ever mention that I don't understand sarcasm unless it's pointed out?) Even if some writers didn't even exist in the nineties, they could at least do their research. Too bad nobody does.8/ 4. Glad to have given you something to think about. 7. The aforementioned list expands. But yes, to some extent.
