As a follow-up to my Starlight and Melody topics, I'm creating a topic about Bright Eyes' development as well. She was really neglected in the show, and until Ponies in Paradise, she never really got much character development. Any thoughts or discussion on Bright Eyes' development?

She did get the short end of the stick; even for some of her own episodes, she got outdone by the others, though I wouldn't say she lacked development in the episodes before Ponies in Paradise. She got a great episode out of Birds of a Feather, for example. Though Ace's presence and Bon Bon's melodramatic hilarity put her in a figurative shadow, she had plenty of characterization there.
She showed that she's intelligent, for one thing; fun facts and regular information, like with her vocabulary words and immediately knowing the group's average in Happy Birthday Sweetheart. She is also brave; acting without fear in Birds of a Feather. And determined to make a different in things she's passionate about. She's also a nature lover. Additionally, we had the tidbits that she's a great swimmer, shy around her crushes, capable of having fun (And The Winner Is... at the end), a mediator when all of her friends slack off, and, if you go by the (in my opinion) out-of-character remark of hers in Happy Birthday Sweetheart, she's a real know-it-all.
Did Bright Eyes get overshadowed a lot by her more flamboyant friends? Yes. Did she lack character? Heck no!
