This is the episode that revealed that Patch was an orphan long ago (story potential there) and showed horses pulling a pony chariot (chimpanzees to humans?). This is an interesting episode in its moral values as it shows that Patch DOES NOT want to be a princess, which is unusual for a girl's cartoon. Opinions, anyone?

This was one of my personal favorite episodes. There's lots of story potential, like you said (Patch the orphan, Patch's past, the chimpanzee guards) but a subject of great frustration for me is the inconsistent magic in Tales. The government uses it to find Rosy, and yet the ponies doubt the existence of Brightglow and her crew. 'Tis madness, I tell you!
But I really liked the emotional depth it gave Patch. Her reluctance to leave her family and friends shows off her heart of gold and loyalty to them. She cried here, too, and not just tears of joy at the end. While she was running away from her parents and saying she loved them, she had tears in her eyes. Plus her relation with her parents was clearly affectionate.
Aside from the awe-inspiring adorableness that was Patch in this episode, there was Melody's lack of a pop, Rosy, the translated version of "You don't want those jellybeans, give them all to me," and... you can tell this is one of my favorites, I bet. (B

Eh, the magic used by the King and Queen seemed like a very faded/weakened sort of magic more then anything. Something that's tied to the bloodlines and all that. So while it might be commonish knowledge that magic exists, the general thinking in Tales is that it's something that only the royal family of the Isle of Pony can use, and even not very showy or impressively at that. But yeah, really liked the episode myeslf, can't wait to get to it in the reviews eventually.

Now, how didn't I think of that? >.< Thanks for solving my life question, bobdude. If I can ever repay you, just tell me. And if I ever have a n existential question again, I'll mention it.
I can't wait to read about it in your reviews, though. Then again, all of the Patch episodes have been exciting waits for me. But even discounting the other cool episodes, Princess Problems will precede An Apple for Starlight and Up, Up and Away, where I'll have a blast chuckling at your thoughts. And The Great Lemonade Stand Wars is next up, so that'll be interesting.

You can act as a second pair of eyes on my Tales reviews and check over what jokes work and what don't work from here on out. But PP and the Great lemon war should be very fun to write.

Yeah. I guess I'm ascending beyond the fan-box I put myself in, huh? I'll do just that, if you like!
