A Sinking Feeling
[Outside people's houses...] *The ground starts shaking and several feel it* [At each of their houses...]
"What's going on, an earthquake?" asked Melody's mother.
"Don't know mom, but I don't want to stay here and find out," said Melody.
"We have to grab the twins!" said her mother. *They rush outside*
"This really truly isn't not good," said Sweetheart. Wonder what it is.
"I don't know, dear," said her mother. *Everyone darts out of their houses and sees a gaping hole.*
"What is all this?" asked Bright Eyes.
"I don't know," said Teddy.
"Whatever it is, it's destroying Ponyville," said Sweetyeart.
"How do we stop it?" asked Lancer.
"Even I have no idea," said Bright Eyes.
"There isn't," said Hackney. Unfortunately, this is what's called a sinkhole, it occurs in a variety of ways but is a depression in the ground. We'd better get out of here before it gets bigger.
"BIGGER?!" said everyone simultaneously.
"Yes, as the ground continues to collapse, it gets bigger in size," said Hackney. Now everyone find shelter where possible! *She races off* *Others remain unsure of where to go as the hole enlarges and the ground continues to shake*
"I'm going with Ms Hackney, she may know where to go, after all she knew what this giant hole was," said Bright Eyes. *She races off*
"Me too," said Lancer. *He follows Bright Eyes* *The rest follow afterwards* *Houses collapse as the ground collapses underneath them*
"Goodbye Ponyville," said Melody partially looking back then continuing forward. *The ground continues shaking and the sinkhole continues expanding then eventually comes to a stop* *Everyone emerges from their hiding places*
"Our houses are really truly gone!" said Sweetheart. Where are we going to live?
"How are we going to live?" asked Bright Eyes. Everything's destroyed.
"What are we going to do for an education?" asked Patch.
"Weneed to first find homes," said Melody.
"I don't think that's going to be a problem, look!" said Bright Eyes. *Several worker ponies gather and begin rebuilding*
"They're rebuilding our homes, this is really truly great," said Sweetheart partially teary-eyed.
"Wow, they're really fast," said Lancer.
"Yeah, they'll be done in no time at all," said Patch.
"This is great, now we'll be able to move on with our lives!" said Melody.
"You said it," said Patch.
"Ditto," said Bright Eyes.
"It'll be great to return to my ice cream shop again," said Starlight. I wasn't feeling well earlier but I'm better now. So what'd I miss?
"Ms Hackney gave us a tiny lesson on what this was, a sinkhole," said Teddy.
"So that's what this hole is," said Starlight. Looks like they've got some skilled workers with them.
"Yeah, they do," said Teddy.
"Incredible, they're already halfway done," said Lancer.
"How are they going to refill the hole in the ground?" asked Starlight.
"Finally, our lives will be normal again," said Lancer.
"Then after that, this'll be a distant memory," said Starlight.
"I'm looking forward to that," said Patch.
"Me too," said Melody.
"I think we all are," said Hackney. I'll be able to teach tomorrow. Good thing we have such skilled craftsmen on board to quickly restore our lives when necessary.
"Well put, Ms Hackney," said Bright Eyes.
"Thank you, Bright Eyes," said Hackney.*The workers finish and leave*
"Thanks for rebuilding our town!" yelled Patch.
"No problem, kid," said one of the workers. It's part of our job.
