Here's my first attempt at creating a topic but I'm honestly curious to know of everyone's story on why they decided to check out My Little Pony Tales and if you'd like to you can also say why you like it here too.
I think I mentioned my reason in my introduction thread but I was browsing through the previous generations and just came across this wonderful slice of 90s nostalgia during my journey. (I also like a good bit of G3 too but this is not the place for it e.e) It sort of felt like I was watching Arthur during each episode in regards to how it looked as well as the little music cues as well as the plots. Easy to get into, they would have either some sort of educational value or little lesson behind each episode, and it just felt..well for everyone really. Maybe I'm being a little vague on that but I do know that it is a very special show to me and I really truly love it <3

I mostly got in through FiM, then tracked down the past episodes back when mlpfan's videos were still online and got into the series from there. As for why Tales specifically, I've always been a sucker for late 80s-early 90s stuff, and Tales is kinda the underdog of the Pony Gens with a bit of tragedy to it (oh the Giant robots can get three seasons but Tales is just stuck with one), which makes me have the feels for it. Also, I find the (ambiguous) child ages of the Tales cast to work better in a lot of way than the Mane Six's (ambiguous) young adult ages do. Basically, there's a groundedness to it that I just happen to really like about it. Also, I do a review/recap/commentary on Tales, just so you know. ;D forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?711230-Where-I-Watch-My-Little-Pony-Tales

I love Tales because it is Tales!
...
Alright. Sweetheart, you're still new to the place. Let me tell you everything you need to know about Notes. I love nothing more than discussing this show. Really. I also have a fondness for the dynamics of characters... ESPECIALLY the one of the little adventure horsey and the baker horsey. I also joined here to help save the fandom, because this fandom is rad. The one that's relevant... I love discussing this show. That means these things get LOOONG.
Alright. I used to label myself as a brony. I did all the works: checked Equestria Daily, read fanfics that are abysmal in quality, and secretly agreed with people in comments. One day I discovered a video made by Bronycurious. I was all for hating on Tales because of that guy's points...
...But I watched the series and found that he was totally bogus. I realized that bronies were not fans outside of the target audience of FiM... they were hypocritical, hiveminded crybabies.
What got me into Tales at first was the atmosphere like Arthur that existed in Slumber Party. I like Arthur, it's a nice show. I didn't watch the episodes in chronological order. Then I realized that Bronycurious is not a good reviewer, and totally misjudged Tales in that horribly put-together video. I mean, he took five episodes for the whole series and believed that that was a random sample when he was out drinking with his buddies, then looked for things to gripe about. Come on.
Tales is actually a very charming show with stellar characters that are not flanderized every other episode, very interesting things in the background, and spectacular things in general going for it. One of the best things is that we are given enough information to understand the characters... but that we can all understand them in our own way.
My way of getting into this great thing is NOT something I am proud of. But here I am.

Yeah, there's a reason why I refer to Bronycurious as Mr. Lumpy Brown Hat. Mostly because he isn't worthy of having his name pronounced correctly. And because Mr. Lumpy Brown Hat is fun to say.

"Hat" is fun to say.

Maybe just Lumpy Hat would be better? ;D But another thing I like about Tales is how we never get an origin story for how the mane seven became friends, gives me a Bill and Ted, Back to the Future vibe.

I know, right? And how they even MET. They may not have been fast friends.

I happen to be one of the older people here who watched Tales on TV when it first came out in the early 90s! So I would sneak downstairs every Saturday at 7:30 (may have even been 6:30, I can't remember) in the morning to watch it on TV and hope that no one in my family would catch me (because I thought I was a little too old for it at the time). I grew up with the original My Little Pony in the 80s, so I was drawn to these new ponies. But really my moment of obsession was the first time Ace was on the screen! It's been a life-long obsession ever since!

It's a pity more then-current fans of MLP n Friends couldn't have also enjoyed Tales on it's own merits (although Hasbro actually selling the freaking toys in the U.S. might have helped some).

I got into Tales mostly for Battle of the Bands as Melody's song was pretty good.

I seriously love the characters, many of the plots, and the overall 90's aura the series gives off every time you watch it.

I became a Brony a year and a half ago thanks to the Cheese Sandwich episode (if you can guess, I'm a huge Weird Al fan). I never grew up with the other cartoon series since My Little Pony n Friends and Tales were both before my time. I didn't have The Disney Channel until after Tales went off the air. I actually first discovered Tales on derpiboo and this gif was what got me into the show. First time I ever laughed so hard at a pony cartoon that wasn't FiM. I eventually started watching the episodes on Dailymotion and I got hooked. I have a soft spot for slice of life cartoons and now that FiM has slipped away from that genre, I turned to Tales for an escape.

I've kinda turned to G3 MLP for my escape because G4 just doesn't have the nostalgia factor. I still watch FiM but G3 really is my favorite of the gens.

G3 does definitely have some shining qualities on both the toy and cartoon sides, admittedly (although honestly all MLP generations have their various pros and cons).
