I'll discuss his parents in a later thread, but I have to ask: How does he stand having his parents be gone for so long? I mean, I would imagine that he'd be lonely or even have a depression problem. I guess it's because he's got some amazing friends to carry him through. I know some fan fictions touch on that, including mine.

Aww, poor Lancer! )8'(
I'd bet that he's (unfortunately) gotten used to the absence of his parents and started looking up to his nanny. Lancer sure would be lonely and depressed if it weren't for his friends, too. I bet that he thinks of them somewhat as siblings: he gets annoyed with them at times, but really cares about them. I bet that they and the nanny he has help him with the depression, but he sometimes has little bouts of despair that he can't power through.
Lancer's family is touched on quite often in stories, that's for sure.

Yep, but few actually show his parents. Also, you forgot Bright Eyes... He has a crush on her, doesn't he?

Yeah, and they mentioned his parents, so they're still around.
Darn it, you're right about Bright Eyes... Maybe he doesn't realize how much he cares for his friends, and just happens to have special attention for Bright Eyes. I truthfully haven't thought much about Lancer, considering he has a bit in the fandom. But I've thought of him that way before.

Well, he is my favorite character in My Little Pony, period.

Yeah. I never said he had enough. I like the little guy; he's so sweet. 8)

Oh yes.
Also... What if his parents had a baby in the picture?

Oh my... I don't know. That point is coming up in your Season 2. I imagine that Lancer would be the best big brother alive (his interactions with Sweetheart and Bon Bon make this obvious, like you said) and he'd get a playmate and possibly his parents around more (especially the mom).
It'd be pretty adorable whether the baby was a boy or a girl though. Either way, they'd look up to Lancer when they grow a bit, and become very intellectual because they see Bright Eyes so often and their brother is Lancer. But the other ponies would interact adorably with the baby too. (3

I would bet so. Also, what do you think his relationship to his parents would be like assuming they are around?

Honestly I've always seen his parents as the sort who do go away a lot - but they take him whenever they can (which would explain why he's never in school!). Plus his nanny seems super cool. AND - was just reading through a comic looking for his nanny, and saw a panel where Bon Bon overheard him talking to Ace about his crush on Brighteyes and wanting to take her to a dance, so obviously he does feel like the boys are legit friends (or Ace, at least;)). Okay so he and Ace are definitely pretty good friends - because after a football match (in which they enlist some of the girls to be cheerleaders) those two take the cheerleader girls out for ice cream to celebrate the win! How sweet of them. Anyway - here is his nanny!

Huh... If only I knew about her sooner...
Also, he DOES go to school. Take "Gribit," "The Tea Party," and "Stand By Me" for example. He's there; you just need to watch for him.

The way they cycle through kids in that school was incredible. The only somewhat consistent attendees other then the main girls were Ace, Teddy and that Lime Pie girl. And wow, Kat, that comic excerpt directly proves the nanny point AND the travelling point.
When I think of the schoolhouse, I think of An Apple for Starlight, and Lancer didn't happen to be present there. I like the idea of them all going to the same little school, but he just isn't consistently there. (I like the private school theory, but I put them in the same school, as absenteeism does happen). I'm glad to know that I won't need to edit those chapters, haha.
He relationship with his parents? It would depend on exactly how much they're away. If they were off at work week after week in your story, though, you did a pretty good job. I doubt Lancer would have too many hard feelings, but he just doesn't know them that well.

I like Lancer, and his Nanny. I think Lancer's parents are away allot, but, they still care about Lancer.

That's pretty much the consensus.

Agreed, but at least we can assume that they wanted him... Or did they?
