My personal favorites are Up Up and Away, Princess Problems, Battle of the Bands, Send in the Clown, and the Masquerade; they have some great analyzing material there!
I'd honestly love to hear what your favorite episodes are!

I love the Up Up and Away episode too especially because of the Glowing Magical ponies. I get my username from the one who said she called to Bright Glow.

Oh, yes! Bright Glow was one of the highlights of the episode for sure. That and all of the "character development" Patch and Bon Bon (my favorites if I have any) got.
I need to wait a while to get an account, but I'm naming myself after a Tales character (somewhat) when I do.

I've always had a fondness for the Masquerade episode myself.

Welcome to the Schoolhouse, bobdude! I'm a huge fan. The Masquerade really is an amazing episode. I personally love it so much because it shows intense character depth and generally lots of things to analyze. The fact that I have an odd adoration for Bon Bon's mom and that Patch and Bon Bon are my favorites is just icing on the cake. Good reminder that the writers really did know they were doing.

Hey! And at the risk of repeating myself with my review of the episode, I always did like how subtle the writers were with this episode in terms of Bon Bon's esteem issues.

Battle of the Bands was a pretty good episode, if I may say so myself!

My favourites, for varying reasons:
An Apple For Starlight - Combines my love of potentially dangerous adventure and Ace saving the day! ♥ (My #1 favourite episode!)
The Masquerade - While it is a great story with some excellent insight, honestly my favourite part of it is the fact that Bon Bon's dad drives a total creeper van complete with functioning TV in the back (this show was so ahead of it's time)! That and Lancer's stellar line about Patch that made me actually like him: "She looks sooo duuuumb!" Oh and let's not forget that Teddy wants to be a pirate when he grows up. ♥
The Play's The Thing - I have a total weakness for characters being little brats, and I adore bratty Melody in this! Plus "The Magic of Theatre" is one of my favourite songs! It's so fun to sing it over dramatically in an opera style.
Shop Talk - My absolute favourite instance of bratty Ace! Has Ace's iconic and legendary line: "You're tickling my teddy bear!"
Blue Ribbon Blues - Yorkie the Pig may possibly be my favourite minor character (seriously this pig is a total sass machine)! The showdown between Teddy and Yorkie is freaking epic - I show this scene to all of my non-pony friends and laugh maniacally at it every time; it's so overly dramatic it brings a tear to my eye. "It's Harvest Time" is my #1 absolute favourite song from this series! Personal anecdote: last summer I went star gazing at a dark sky preserve in the middle of bear country with a friend of mine; while drinking a bottle of wine in the back of her pickup truck at 2 in the morning we kept hearing rustling sounds that we had convinced ourselves was a bear - so in order to scare it away we kept singing this very song! (Later on we realized the sounds we'd been hearing were acorns falling from the trees...)
Just For Kicks - The very episode that spawned my intense love for Ace in the first place! As soon as he strutted in and stole Starlight's drink he had me hooked! He does redeem himself in the end though - coming to apologize to Starlight all on his own accord without anyone telling him that he owes her an apology. (Oddly enough though I actually can't stand either of the Perfect Pair songs!)
I love a lot more of the episodes (really anything with Ace is special to me) but these are the ones with standout things or scenes.

An Apple for Starlight: I loved this one too! This is one of the better episodes involving the boys, too, in my opinion, especially because they were working together. I'll admit that I imagined the narrow cave passages the ponies were passing through in Friendship's Treasure like the cave here. It was also Starlight's best episode, in my opinion! The Masquerade was one of my favorites too for pretty much all the reasons you mentioned and for cementing my headcanon that Bon Bon is absolutely terrified of heights. Plus my OTP is insanely preeminent in this episode. And they basically said, "We weren't laughing at you, silly Bon Bon, we were laughing at Patch!" The Play's the Thing: Now I shall imagine the ponies singing it as an opera rather than in its original format. Shop Talk... well, different strokes for different folks. Blue Ribbon Blues was one of my least favorites, but I loved Corny and Yorkie and the other Meadowsweets! Yorkie did put up a pretty epic fight against that big bully. Harvest Time had lots and lots of Corny and Sweetheart being adorable and Teddy being Teddy. Haha at the acorns too. Just for Kicks was also, admittedly, meh, but Ace was good in it. Not good good, but Ace. I loved Miss Hackney in this, and the ending was a dual-ship canonization round. My favorite Ace episode was Birds of a Feather. Not only was he showing everyone why he was so popular in the first place (his coolness) but the others were great too.

I like those episodes too! I accidentally misread Battle of the Bands as Battle of the Birds for a moment. Birds of a Feather was another I really loved; so many great, funny moments in that one!
