Mr. Tidwell

If Moki, Bright Glow and even Corny get their own topics, and the others will inevitably get their days in the limelight, let's talk about the silly and EPIC Mr. Tidwell. For those of you who aren't Tales fanatics like I am (approximately 1% of us, though likely not to my extent) his only appearance was in Stand By Me, where he was the school janitor. He is blue with a black mane and a broom symbol. He also has a very wrinkled complexion. He was shown to be friends with Sweetheart.

I personally think of Mr. Tidwell as Teddy's dad, and the idea makes me chuckle. He seems like a jovial elder who would be great friends with Miss Hackney, while doing janitorial work as a labor of love.

I quite liked Mr. Tidwell, though in a very different way than the other one-shot characters. Where I'm a nut for Corny, Rosy and Slice Cake, dazzled by Bright Glow, the Glowing Magical Ponies, Squire and Moki and horribly amused by Spot, Mr. Tidwell just seems different for some reason. Along the same league as Van Pony (whom I call Cameron) from the Masquerade episode. I think it's partially because their characters just SCREAM potential without amazing backstories to boot.

Any thoughts on Mr. Tidwell? Ideas? Opinions? Ever written or read a story about him? Comment on him here!

Upon the soft-reset of my laptop, I think that the charm of Mr. Tidwell and Cameron is the fact that they aren't inherently special. But again, any thoughts on this gentleman?

Mr. Tidwell felt more like a plot device in his appearance in Stand By Me, as the one who put the cassette player in the Lost and Found box, which is a shame, because there are many things that could have been done with him. I wrote a fanfiction in a notebook once about Starlight, Bright Eyes, Patch, Clover, Ace and Lancer discovering that Ms. Hackney and Mr. Tidwell's pasts are linked (rather like the Starlight/Ace/Melody thing, where Ms. Hackney is Ace, Mr. Tidwell is Starlight, and Mr. Kidoo is Melody, putting it that way), although that would be presumably just silly.
So, he really does have a lot of potential, and could have been used in other episodes. Starswirl's Tales fanfics feature him a few times (Lost N Found on the Ground from the Tales series and Jiggles and Wiggles from the Pudgyville series to name a few).

Yeah, but like with your fanfic (AWESOME concept I might add) he did have potential. A lot of it. I've also had another similar one that was weirder though. Cameron had a huge crush on Slice Cake since he was in sixth grade, and they happen to be best friends in high school for the idea's duration. But Slice Cake didn't return the feelings, and instead was in love with Long Hose. ...This is where Bon Bon's mom equaled Slice, her dad equaled Hose and Cameron is Van guy. So yeah, you aren't alone; I even thought of that before.

I know they do. I saw the comic where he got hurt while looking on Google Images. "I think something's wrong with Mr. Tidwell."
